Sarah, the reason why I want to leave the book club meeting til after the 16th is because I have a SHITLOAD of work to do over the next 5 weeks. I know it's only a few hours, but it's an afternoon or a weekday evening gone (plus, I haven't had time to figure out iChat, and I know my mind won't be on the book). Much I as I would like to talk to you all, I need to basically bury myself in textbooks and my computer til the term is over. I guess it's not just the time it will take, but the break in concentration and...well, you know what it's like when you're really busy: even tasks that should only take a few hours seem impossible in context of everything else you have to do. I am constantly trying to balance my social life with school, but for November I am resigned to seeing it go from struggling to being in a full-on coma. I miss you all lots, though (and if you want to do a webcam without me, I won't be pissed at all. Maybe we could webcam the book meeting on Dec 17th or thereabouts?)
And Lis, the Outlander books are majorly addictive, hey? Enjoy! btw, in case you don't know already, she wrote another book, a mystery, about Lord John.

Kate, I totally understand why you want to postpone it. I have been in the same boat. When do you come home for Christmas? We could always do it in person some night, maybe when we exchange gifts?
I come home on Dec 16th. It's my mom's birthday that day, so it'll be nice to be in town for it.
Thanks for understanding why I want to postpone the meeting :) I don't know when the gift exchange is planned, but I am happy to have the book club meeting on that day, or on another day. Basically, gifts aside, I am looking forward to sitting around with drinks and catching up with everyone!
We haven't set a date for the gift exchange yet, but thats another kettle of fish because of different arrival/departure dates for a few of us! I know about the Lord John book - thats next on my list after this series, although I'm not sure if I will like it because I don't like the character of John Grey...
I don't matter to me when we have it either. I haven't started it yet, but I am hoping to start it soon (I am slowly getting through Amber Spyglass - work has thrown me right off)
I'm hoping that Dec 17th area won't be too bad. I move on Dec 10, so I might still be in trasit, but I will ensure I have a computer to chat on.
Just tell me where and when. On a side note - Kate you may have to download MSN messanger for Mac 'cause there have been problems with webcams and mac. The sad thing about that is MSN Mac doesn't have a webcam application.
